Andrew Gaughan
Andrew has been a senior leader in global horse racing and pari-mutuel wagering for over 25 years, most recently as CEO of Sportech plc. His experience covers leading a public gaming technology company, managing complex omnichannel infrastructure and B2C operations, understanding and managing horse racing stakeholders across five continents and working closely with regulators. Andrew, licensed in Ontario, Canada as a lawyer, left his early legal career and was VP Corporate Development for Woodbine Entertainment Group (Canada’s leading horse racing and pari-mutuel operator) between 1994 and 2001, where he launched online wagering and led all corporate M&A activities for the Group. At Magna Entertainment Corporation (North America’s largest horse racing operator and pari-mutuel content aggregator) – 2001-2004 – he also launched MEC’s online wagering capability, XpressBet as well as running a racecourse and casino within the diverse group portfolio. Andrew Joined Scientific Games Corporation (Nasdaq listed and traded global gaming technology provider), entering as it’s Racing and Pari-Mutuel division MD for EMEA in 2004, based from London, UK, where he was the MD responsible until he became President of the overall global business and then CEO of the acquiring group Sportech PLC (2010), as a UK-listed plc.
